a word from our founder

Despite Los Angeles experiencing one of the largest infrastructure investments in its history, African American workers represent less than 6% of the local construction workforce. Systemic bias, limited access to training, underrepresentation in union leadership, and restricted on-the-job learning opportunities continue to widen this gap. Now is the time to flip the script. The billions of public dollars being invested in rebuilding Los Angeles must also build equity and opportunity. Infrastructure should not only transform skylines, it should also transform lives.

The PDA Foundation is taking action, and we need your partnership. Your donation will directly support recruiting, training, and preparing participants for direct referral and placement into union construction careers. From OSHA certification and industry orientation to mentorship and job placement support, your contribution helps open doors that many believed were permanently closed.

This is not charity. It is a strategic investment. It is workforce equity. It is economic development. It is a long-overdue representation.

By strengthening pathways into union construction careers, we strengthen Black communities while helping meet the growing labor demands of Los Angeles’ evolving construction landscape. We hope you will stand with us. Every level of support makes a difference, and all contributions are tax-deductible. Thank you for believing in the power of community, opportunity, and action. Let’s build the future, together.

With deep gratitude,
